Arthur Shorty invited to South Korea
United by Music artist Arthur Shorty has been invited to perform at the Special Music & Art Festival 2018 in Pyeongchang, South Korea. It is the one and only, very special cultural festival for artists with intellectual disabilities. From August 7 till August 11, Arthur will travel to the festival together with founder Joris van Wijngaarden. We are looking forward to hear about there adventures!
United by Music Norway at Morodalsfestivalen
In Norway this summer? Don't forget to visit the Morodalsfestivalen, a great festival for everyone with or without intellectual disabilities. This year, the band of United by Music will perform at the festival! June 16 you will find them on stage at Morodal.
Benefit concerts 2018 sold out!
From April 9 to April 14, United by Music will organize another yearly benefit week in the Netherlands full of concerts to raise awareness and money for United by Music. This year, 6 shows will be oragnized, so it is going to be a busy week. Sponsors, supporters, ASVZ clients and volunteers were all invited to join the shows. And we have some great news: All shows are sold out!

Artist Mingus Cox on Dutch tv show
A performance in theatre Carré in Amsterdam and also with a famous band... it is the dream of many musicians. That dream came true for United by Music artist Mingus Cox. He got to perform with the band Racoon (famous Dutch band) during the Knoop Gala, a Dutch tv show. "Music means a lot to me. It is my life. I want to inspire people with my songs and also with my handicap." says Mingus.
All Stars to Sweden
At the end of November 2017, the United by Music All Star Band travelled to Lund (Sweden) for Music Unites Europe, an international collaboration with several European countries to join together and create 'sharing communities' through music. Bands from the Netherlands, Sweden, Germany and Denmerk were in Lund to do workshops together and to make music.
United by Music NA wins Muddy Award
United by Music North America won a very special award this November. They won the Muddy Award for Event of the year, an award that honors musical achievements from the past year. Congratulations and a special thanks to Barabara Hammerman, Amanda Gresham and all the fantastic United by Music artists!

Americans & Norwegians coming to the Netherlands!
The artists and volunteers of United by Music North America and United by Music Norway are coming to the Netherlands! They will be visiting the United by Music jubilee shows in April to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. We are so excited to welcome our special guests. Want to meet them? ASVZ jubileeshows sold out!
This year, we celebrate our 10 year anniversary! The anniversary will be celebrated with several jubilee shows in April. Friday, April 15 and Saturday, April 16, a show is organized for clients with an intellectual disability of ASVZ or other care organizations. These two shows are already sold out!

New cd: Superheroes
United by Music has a new cd! The cd was recorded by the All Star band and is called 'Superheroes', because our artists are real superheroes. The cd was launched during the business event and will be for sale at all our shows.
Kick off United by Music Norway
On Sunday September 6, United by Music Norway will kick off! The new organization organised a nice event with shows of The Vikings (the talented Norwegian band) and the All Star band from Holland. The event will take place at Buckley's Roots & Blues Joint in Oslo and it will start at 19.00h (7.00 PM). You are invited to meet the new organization and the amazingly talented artists!
New organization in Norway
Since 2015, United by Music has a new organization: United by Music Norway. Board members are Helena Wilberg, Hanne Hansgaard, Rikke Kristiansen and Joris van Wijngaarden. They already have a band: The Vikings! They will make their debut at the Notodden Bluesfestival.

United by Music North America to perform at Special Olympics 2018!
It all kicks off in Seattle during Opening Ceremonies of the Special Olympics USA Games at Noon, July 1st in Husky Stadium. The Special Olympics USA Games is a premier, national sports competition that showcases the power and joy of sports at the highest levels. This year UNITED BY MUSIC NORTH AMERICA has been added with 8 scheduled activities during 6 days to showcase the transformative power through sports AND MUSIC!
New organization in Romania
United by Music all over the world.. that is our dream. And that is dream is slowly coming true. Since March 2018, United by Music has a independent organization in Romania. A enthusiastic board will start their search for talented people with intellectual disabilities, to give them a chance to shine. More information will follow soon!
Great conference: Daar zit muziek in!
Inspiring, full with passion, love for music.. they were all words that summed up the first United by Music conference Daar zit muziek in. The conference was a great success. Around 200 participants learned more about United by Music through presentations and workshops. Thanks to everyone who joined to conference and who helped with the organization!

New Dutch band: Third Base!
United by Music wants to give as many talented people as possible the chance to perform on stage. That is why we are constantly looking for new talented artist with an intellectual disability who would like to join United by Music. Not only in the Netherlands, but also in Norway, America and Romania. Lately, a new band started in the Netherlands: Third Base. Again, a band full of talented and enthusiastic artists that will be able to perform.

July 4 marked the final day of the Safeway Waterfront Blues Festival, and it kicked off with a special performance by a group with impressive musical talents, despite having some physical challenges: United by Music North America. The American tv news channel Koin 6 made an item on United by Music.

Candye Kane, our superhero
Our dear friend, our superhero, the toughest girl alive and wonder woman Candye Kane passed away on May 6, 2016. Candye founded United by Music together with Joris van Wijngaarden in 2006. She was a great inspiration for all the people that were involved in United by Music. We will all miss her very much but we will always remember the wonderful things she did for us. R.I.P. Candye.
All Star Band in Denmark
The United by Music All Star Band travelled to Denmark again for United by Music Europe, an annual seminar to be held in the days leading up to Sølund Music Festival. Music Unites Europe invites a variety of bands from three to four different European countries in addition to bands from Denmark to a musical seminar with workshops and gatherings in general. On June 8 & 9, the band will perform at the Nilles Telt at the Solund Festival at 3 PM.
10 years United by Music!
This year, United by Music will celebrate its 10 year anniversary. Ten years ago, Joris van Wijngaarden and Candye Kane came together and imagined a musical extravaganza that would blur the lines between who has a disability and who does not. Ten years later, United by Music has evolved into an international organization. In April, the 10 year anniversary will be celebrated in the Netherlands with six special shows (extra show on April 11).
Special guests: Sue Palmer & Billy Watson
United by Music celebrates its 10 year anniversary with five jubilee shows in April. The shows are going to be a big party with a lot of international artists (with and without disabilities). Two special guests are coming to the Netherlands all the way from the United States: Queen of Boogie Woogie Sue Palmer and entertaining harp player Billy Watson. These two amazing musicians performed with United by Music in the beginning years and will perform with them again during the jubilee shows.

Scandinavian Tour All Star Band
The United by Music All Star Band from Holland toured through Scandinavia again this June. From June 4 until June 14 they toured through Denmark and Norway, where they performed at several festivals. They performed at Solund festival, Dissimilis festival and Morodalsfestivalen.
